The new continuous slab caster with a designed annual production capacity of 1.4 million mt will cast slabs with thicknesses of 220-260 mm and widths of 800-1,600 mm. JSW Steel currently has three continuous slab casters at its steel works No. 1 in Toranagallu. With the fourth caster, the casting capacity of Toranagallu steel works will increase to around 4.2 million mt of slabs per year.

The new continuous slab caster is scheduled to be commissioned in the middle of 2013.
