The modernization project aims to reduce wear on the work pieces considerably and to improve the quality of the final products. It is scheduled to be completed in mid-2012. Siemens will also supply two new saws for cutting the steel bars to size.

The existing bar mill, located in Tonghua, has an annual capacity of 600,000 mt of straight and coiled quality steel bars. It can produce bar stock with diameters from 14 to 80 mm and coiled bar with diameters from 14 to 50 mm.
