Siemens VAI to install new bar mill for Chinese steelmaker

Austria-based plantmaker Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has announced that it will supply a new bar mill to Chinese steelmaker Shaoguan Iron and Steel Group (Shaoguan), which is majority owned by Chinese steel giant Baosteel Group.
 
Siemens VAI will install a plant to produce alloyed round bars with diameters up to 80 mm in Songshan, Guangdong Province. The plant will be able to produce around 460,000 metric tons of alloyed round bar per year.
 
The new bar mill is scheduled to start operation in early 2013.
