Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from German steel giant ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG to upgrade the casting-rolling mill at its Duisburg-Bruckhausen plant.

At the casting-rolling mill in Bruckhausen, liquid steel is first cast into thin slabs of 48 to 63 mm in thickness and up to 1,600 mm width and then rolled out to strips measuring 1.0 to 12.7 mm thick.

The project is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2013.
