Siemens to supply medium plate rolling mill equipment to Wuhan Steel

SteelOrbis Shanghai Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group has inked a contract with Wuhan Iron & Steel (Group) Corporation for an equipment supply deal worth EUR 51 million. According to the contract, Siemens will provide complete sets of mechanical and electrical equipment for Wuhan Steel's new medium plate rolling mill. Work on the mill, which will have an annual production capacity of 1.6 million mt, is scheduled to be completed in August 2008. In addition to the necessary mechanical equipment, Siemens Group will also supply a complete set of automation systems and relevant technical solutions to Wuhan Steel and will be in charge of the design and installation of all electrical equipment, with the aim of enhancing greatly the productivity of the mill. In recent years, Wuhan Steel has cooperated with Siemens on a variety of projects, including new plant construction, improvement of current equipment and expansion of production capacity.
