Sidor has signed a contract for recoil line

Venezuelan steelmaker Sidor has signed a a contract with Techint Technologys to install a new high-speed recoil line for its rolling mill Puerto Ordaz. The project is planned to be completed by the end of 2004. The new line will reprocess hot rolled coils of 1.6-6.5mm up to 400 meter per minute. The entirely automated line includes new equipments such as coil-preparation station and four-high skin pass mill. The officials of Techint Technologys state that the new line will improve finished strip flatness, surface conditions, cut down on coil breaks and enable to locate defective portions. Furthermore, the line will reduce production cost of Sindor.
