The government of China’s Shanxi Province has announced that it eliminated 27.45 million mt of coal production capacity in 2019. In particular, 18 coal mines were shut down in the given year, equivalent to 18.95 million mt of coal capacity, while capacity reductions were implemented at six coal mines, equivalent to the elimination of 8.5 million mt of coal capacity.
In the 2016-19 period, Shanxi Province shut down a total of 106 coal mines, eliminating 115.86 million mt of coal capacity.
