Shangang Group posts net profit of RMB 24.8 billion for 2006-10 period

Shandong Province-based Chinese steelmaker Shangang Group has reviewed its achievements in China's 11th five-year plan period (2006-10).
 
In the period in question, Shangang Group produced a total of 111.93 million mt of pig iron and 112.16 million mt of crude steel, up 63.85 million mt and 55.64 million mt as compared to the output figures for the 10th five-year plan period (2001-05). The company's total net profit in the period in question was RMB 24.8 billion ($3.78 billion). In 2010, Shangang Group's sales revenues totaled RMB 110 billion ($16.74 billion).
 
In the 11th five-year plan period, Shangang Group increased its focus on the production of medium plate, heavy plate and wide plate, while it became the largest production base for H-beams in China. As regards environmental efforts, in 2010 the company generated 4.786 billion kWh of electricity from waste energy, while it generated a total of 20 billion kWh during the 11th five-year plan period, and also won the ‘Low Carbon Model Company in Shandong Province' award.
