Severstal’s Vorkutaugol commissions new coal face at Komsomolskaya Mine

Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced that its Vorkutaugol subsidiary has commissioned a new coal face, with estimated resources of more than 1.16 million mt of coking coal, at Vorkutaugol's Komsomolskaya mine. Investment in the project will total approximately RUB 715 million ($23 million), while equipment has already been installed at the coal face.

Vorkutaugol is part of the resources division of Severstal, one of the largest producers of hard coking coal in Russia. Vorkutaugol supplies Severstal Russian Steel with hard coking coal concentrate.
