Russian steelmaker Severstal disclosed a 7% year-on-year increase in volume of rolled metal products dispatched to pipe producers during the first quarter of 2005. Total volume for the quarter amounted to 270’000 tons, with over 100’000 tons being shipped in March alone. According to Severstal sales director Dmitriy Goroshkov, increased sales of the company’s corrosion-resistant steel brands and considerably improved service quality spurred the sales growth. Severstal’s key clients, such as United Metallurgical and Pipe Metallurgical, benefited from the available information on delivery schedules and order executions.
