Russian steelmaker Severstal has commissioned the second color-coating line at its Cherepovets Steel Mill, planning to double the plant's output of coated hot dip rolled products.
The new line is expected to produce 200,000 metric tons per year of coated hot dip rolled products measuring of 0.3-2.0 mm in thickness and up to 1,650 mm in width. The total investment in the second line is more than RUR 2.5 billion ($78.1 million).
According to the Severstal statement, the annual production capacity of pre-painted galvanized iron will increase to 400,000 metric tons. Cherepovets Steel Mill's continuous hot dip galvanizing unit commissioned in December 2010 will supply feedstock for the new line.
