Severstal Cherepovets, the main steel producing facility of Severstal Russian Steel (Severstal), has announced that in May 2009 it delivered more than 17,000 mt of strips for the needs of large diameter pipe producers, and more than 3,000 mt of strips for projects in Russia's fuel and power sector.

Accordingly, Severstal Cherepovets's products are used in projects of federal importance such as the construction of Transneft's Baltic Pipeline system second leg and of Gazprom's Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas trunk line. Up to the end of 2009, Severstal Cherepovets's deliveries for these projects in Russia's fuel and power sector are expected to exceed 120,000 mt.

Severstal Cherepovets delivers its steel products not only to Severstal's subsidiary Izhorsky Pipe Plant, but also to other pipe producers which participate in the implementation of fuel and power sector projects. Severstal Cherepovets' sheet-rolling mill 5000 allows the plant to produce grades of steel with high added-value and strong resistance to differences of temperature and pressure.

In 2008, Severstal Cherepovets began the production of plates of X80 strength class for the needs of the fuel and power sector.
