According to Chinese Customs, 455,000 metric tons of seamless pipes have been exported from China's Tianjin port in January-July period. The quantity is 64.1 percent higher than that of the same period in 2005. The value of the seamless pipe exports from the port also recorded a sharp increase of 110 percent year on year and reached $530 million. Tianjin Port's seamless pipe exports mostly consist of OCTG pipes and have accounted for 62.9 percent of the total seamless pipe exports from China in the mentioned period. The first three export destinations; the US, Algeria and Canada accounted for 47.9 percent of the seamless pipe exports from the port. The increase in exports is attached to both the improvement in international market demand and the development of seamless pipe production technology in China. China had produced approximately 4.5 million metric tons of seamless pipes in 2005.
