Sales of South Korean domestic production H-beam in the January-May period of the current year reached 1,281,300 mt, up 1.5 percent from the same period last year, according to a survey by Korea Metal Journal.
In the first five months, exports of South Korean production H-beam declined by two percent to 536,200 mt, compared 547,000 mt in the same period a year earlier, while sales in the domestic market rose by 4.2 percent year on year from 723,000 mt to 753,100 mt, lifting the overall sales figure for the period.
In May alone, sales of domestic production H-beam totaled 275,000 mt, with 156,000 mt in the domestic market, up 5.4 percent year on year, and 119,000 mt in the overseas market, down 0.8 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, South Korean production of H-beam in May increased 5.4 percent to 313,100 mt, while output in the January-May period rose by 14.1 percent to 1,382,300 mt, both year on year.
