Indian state-run steelmaker Steel Authority of India Limited’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has recorded highest-ever production of 1.58 million mt of pig iron during the April-August period of 2018, recording a growth of 20 percent over the corresponding months of the previous year, a company official said on Monday, September 10.
The production during the given period was the highest RSP has achieved since the inception of the steel mill, the official added.
Saleable steel production of 1.33 million mt during the April-August period this year, up 18 percent year on year, was also the highest for five months, since the mill commenced production, he said.
RSP, located in the eastern Indian state of Odisha, has an installed capacity for production of 4.5 million mt of pig iron per year.
