Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) owned by Indian government-owned steel producer Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has commenced production of electric resistance welded (ERW) pipes of new dimensions to diversify its product portfolio and boost its competitive edge in the market, a statement issued by RSP said on Tuesday, February 20.

According to RSP, the only pipe manufacturing plant among all subsidiaries of SAIL has produced ERW pipes with thickness of 5.0 mm and 18 inch outer diameter for the first time and products with a total length of 3 km have been delivered to a customer.

Accordingly, RSP has achieved production of a full range of both SW and ERW pipes at a single location.
