Indian state-owned steelmaker Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced that in the April-December period of the financial year 2016-17, its total sales volume, including exports, increased by 16 percent compared to the same period of the financial year 2015-16. During the given period, the improved domestic sales as well as expanding exports, with the latter recording a remarkable rise of around more than double, contributed to the improved sales numbers.

In the first nine months of the given financial year, SAIL produced 10.18 million mt of finished steel, rising 15 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in December alone, SAIL’s finished steel production totaled 1.18 million mt.
