SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant achieves highest-ever steel rail production

Indian state-run steel producer Steel Authority of India Limited’s Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) has achieved its highest-ever steel rail production of one million mt in the period from April 2019 up to January 21 this year, company sources said on Tuesday, January 28.

The sources said that for the first time SAIL’s sole steel rail-producing mill BSP will achieve production of over 1 million mt and is well placed to complete supplies of 1.35 million mt to state transporter Indian Railways by the end of current fiscal year on March 31, 2020.

In the previous fiscal year, BSP had failed to achieved production of 1 million mt and fell short of meeting supplies to Indian Railways as the steel mill produced 985,000 mt of steel rails during the year, the sources said.
