India's state-owned steelmaker Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced that it registered a growth of 14 percent in finished steel product sales in April, amounting to 810,000 mt. In the given month, the company's finished steel exports increased by 66 percent compared to April 2013.

In April, SAIL's pig iron production increased by six percent to 1.22 million mt, while its crude steel output stood at 1.14 million mt, rising four percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

Considering the April performance, SAIL expects a double-digit growth rate both in production and sales in the financial year 2014-15.
