S. Africa’s vehicle sales gain momentum in March
The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA) disclosed that the country's new vehicle sales set a March record with a 12.2% year-on-year increase to 43'651 units. March 2005's record levels come despite constrained sales growth due to a lack of light commercial vehicle stock. Passenger cars were the strongest sellers in March, rising 14.5% year on year to 28'722 units. Sales of light commercial vehicles rose 6.4% year on year to 12'868 units. NAAMSA had previous indicated that sales growth should surpass 10% for 2005.
