S. African steelmakers' export prices up 3.3 percent in Feb from Jan

According to the latest data released by Statistics South Africa, in February this year the country's producer price index (PPI) for the basic iron and steel industry increased by 1.4 percent compared to January and was up 12.5 percent compared to February 2013.
 
The PPI for exported basic iron and steel in South Africa in February this year increased by 3.3 percent compared to the previous month and was up 15.5 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in South Africa the PPI for imported basic metals in the month in question increased by 1.5 percent month on month and was up 14.9 percent year on year.
