Finnish steelmaker Ruukki's new paint shop and packaging-dispatch department to serve engineering customers at the Jászberény factory in Hungary has been commissioned on January 13, 2011.

Ruukki said that its €5 million paint shop is one of the most modern in Europe and capable of processing massive items. Solvent- and water-borne coating systems can also be used in the new coating facility.

Ruukki's Jászberény factory makes booms, heavy frames and special-steel-based components for the lifting, handling and transportation equipment industry and for equipment manufacturers in the energy industry.

"Coating capacity at Jászberény will double as a result of the investment. The new facility will be able to process also larger components, weighing up to 50 tonnes," said Erik Skogström, Ruukki's senior vice president, operations.
