Russian exports of stainless steel products in the January-March period of this year decreased by 66.8 percent year on year to 927 mt, according to Russia-based SpetsStal Association.
In particular, in the first quarter of this year, exports of stainless billets decreased by 80.5 percent to 36 mt, exports of flat products of stainless steel decreased by 2.9 percent to 363 mt, exports of seamless stainless pipes decreased by 73.6 percent to 130 mt and exports of long stainless steel products decreased by 89.3 percent to 175 mt, all on year-on-year basis.
At the same time, according to SpetsStal's estimation, the leading suppliers of stainless steel products to Russia in the first quarter were China (23.9 percent of total delivery volume to the country), Taiwan (17,4 percent), South African Republic (9.0 percent), India (8.5 percent) and Ukraine (5,9 percent). In the given quarter, only China increased its supplies compared to the same period of last year, by 73.6 percent to 10,731 mt.
