The Russian steel and mining company Severstal is considering building a new iron ore briquette plant in Canada, according to Russian media reports.

The new iron ore briquette plant would be constructed in the area neighboring the port of Sept-Îles in Quebec, and would be expected to produce briquettes with an iron content of over 90 percent, which would replace scrap in the production of steel. The plant would use the most modern and environmentally-friendly technologies to minimize waste levels.
