Russian pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has recently announced it will make a sizeable investment in order to technically re-equip its Chusovskoy Metalurgical Plant, which is one of the key local producers of automotive springs.

Within the framework of the investment worth around RUB 3.6 billion, it is planned to install a longs rolling mill which will be capable of 200,000 mt per year production, SteelOrbis has learned. “The project will allow the company to improve the quality of spring production for our clients and to also produce a wide range of steel products, including the ones made from stainless steel,” Vladimir Kirzner, managing director of the mill, said in the official statement.

The beginning of equipment installation is scheduled for the end of 2020, while the first production is expected in 2022.
