Russia’s NLMK to start up new continuous casting machine at Lipetsk

Russian steelmaker NLMK has stated that the startup is underway at the new continuous casting machine (CCM-9) at its NLMK Lipetsk site.

According to the press release, the productivity of CCM-9 is 1.8 million mt of steel per year. The company plans to use the equipment to master the production of a premium mix of products that will be used to make wind turbine parts, marine vessels, oil drilling rigs, and large-diameter pipes. These products will be supplied both to the Russian and international markets.

The CCM-9 construction project was implemented over the course of 14 months, with over 5,000 mt of equipment and steel structures assembled for the project.
