In the January-September period of this year, the production of stainless finished steel in Russia decreased by 22.6 percent year on year to 71,600 mt, according to Russia-based SpetsStal Association. In particular, output of flat hot rolled products declined by 35.8 percent, production of flat cold rolled products decreased by 58.6 percent, production of pipe billets contracted by 8.2 percent, while output of long products declined by five percent, all on year-on-year basis.

The decline in production was primarily due to the low demand for domestic products and financial problems of some companies.
