Russian production results for Jan-Aug 06
According to data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in January-August 2006, the country mined a total of 199 million metric tons of coal, up 4.8 percent, and 67.4 million metric tons of iron ore, up 7.3 percent - compared to the figures of January-August 2005. During the period in question, Russian production of coke increased by 2.2 percent, that of finished steel products increased by 8 percent and that of steel pipes increased by 18.2 percent. The respective production figures in metric tons were 21.6 million, 38.6 million and 5.1 million.
