Russia ups scrap consumption in Jan-Apr

According to preliminary data, during the January-April 2007 period domestic scrap consumption in Russia totaled about 5.5 million metric tons, above last year's level by 20 percent.

In April alone, the Russian steel producers consumed about 1.8 million metric tons of scrap.
