Russia sees increase in iron ore output

Russia's iron ore production through the first two months of 2005 rose 1.3% year-on-year to 15.7 million tons. Russia upped its sinter production by 2.5% to 976'200 tons. Iron ore concentrate production rose 2.6% to 15.1 million tons, while pellet output jumped 7.6% to 6.1 million tons. Total iron ore production of CIS producers' Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan amounted to 30.1 million tons in January-February 2005 period, up 5% year-on-year. Production rose 6.1% to 11.1 million tons in Ukraine and 21.6% to 3.3 million tons in Kazakhstan.
