Russia's Federal Tariff Service has approved an average 15 percent increase in natural gas prices for industrial consumers from January 1, 2011.

The rise in gas prices directly affects steelmakers' production costs, which are thus expected to increase following this latest price hike.

Gas prices for industrial consumers in 2010 had also increased by 15 percent.
