In the first nine months of 2010, Russia registered a 13.9 percent increase in its crude steel production year on year to 49.48 million mt, with 5.6 million mt produced in September - up 3.3 percent year on year.
In September this year, Russia produced 4.9 million mt of rolled steel products, registering a 0.3 percent increase over the same month last year. The output of long steel amounted to 1.5 million mt - up 8.3 percent, while the flat steel production totaled 2.3 million mt - down 1.6 percent, both compared to September 2009. The above flat rolled production figure includes 0.8 million mt of cold rolled and 1.5 million mt of hot rolled, down 9.2 percent and up 2.9 percent respectively year on year.
