The Russian government may impose a 28.1 percent special duty on imports of stainless steel pipes from China and Brazil, following the submission by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade of a proposal aimed at protecting the country's producers, whose deliveries of stainless steel pipes in the local market have decreased by more than 18 percent since 2004.

The decision will be taken after an antidumping investigation into imports of pipes with 426 mm outside diameter, containing 1.2 percent or less of carbon, and 10.5 percent or more of chrome, originating from Brazil and China (including Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau).
