Russia issues import and export data for January-October

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal Customs Service, in the first 10 months of this year Russia exported 32.52 million mt of ferrous metals, registering a 6.2 percent increase year on year. Of this volume, about 30.257 million mt were delivered to non-CIS countries - up six percent year on year, and 2.263 million mt were supplied to CIS countries - up 8.2 percent year on year.

Russia's exports of semi-finished steel products went up in January-October by 14.6 percent to 13.227 million mt, its exports of ferroalloys increased by 16 percent to 748,400 mt, while its exports of pig iron decreased by 13 percent to 3.232 million mt and its flat rolled product exports went down by 5.7 percent to 7.037 million mt, all compared to January-October 2009.

Meanwhile, during the period in question, Russia registered a 9.6 percent increase year on year in its iron ore concentrate exports to about 17.48 million mt and a 35.5 percent growth year on year in its coke and semi-coke exports to 2.01 million mt.

On the other hand, in the first 10 months of this year, Russia's ferrous metal imports increased by 47.5 percent year on year to 4.21 million mt, of which 1.747 million mt were imported from non-CIS countries - up 78.3 percent year on year, and 2.463 million mt were supplied from CIS countries - up 31.4 percent year on year.

Russia's steel pipe imports in January-October this year rose by 141 percent to 1.134 million mt, of which 620,700 mt were imported from non-CIS countries - up 301.2 percent year on year, and 513,600 mt were supplied from CIS countries - up 62.4 percent year on year.
