Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development filed a request on March 14 for the establishment of an arbitration panel in a dispute with the EU at the World Trade Organization (WTO) regarding the EU’s antidumping duty on cold rolled coil (CRC) imports. The measure has been in place since August 5, 2016, with antidumping duties of 18.7 percent for MMK, 34 percent for Severstal and 36.1 percent for NLMK and all other Russian companies.

According to the WTO dispute resolution procedure, the request was preceded by a stage of formal consultation. Such consultations were held with the EU, but it was not possible to agree on ways to settle the dispute, which would suit both parties.
