Robust growth in Shanghai's Jan-March exports

January-March 2005 exports of China's Shanghai region reached $45.68 billion with 37.9% year-on-year increase. The imports of the region reached $30.29 billion with 10.9% year-on-year increase. The total volume of the trade in the region reached $76 billion with a trade surplus of $15.4 billion. The surplus was $5.82 billion last year. While the increases in machinery trade, processing trade and ordinary trade showing 44%, 36% and 20% year-on-year increases respectively, the trading activities of rolled steel, automobile parts and raw plastics declined.
