Indian state-run Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited will commence commercial production of forged steel wheels from its new plant in northern India within the next month and a half, a steel ministry official said on Friday, January 25.
The official said that RINL’s forged wheel plant located in Rae Bareli was initially scheduled to commence production in September 2019, but the project will be completed ahead of schedule.
The official said that the plant will initially have the capacity to produce 100,000 forged steel wheels per year, but a project to double the capacity of the plant will be undertaken immediately after the start of commercial production.
The forged wheel plant will be the first value-added production facility of RINL which operates a 6.3 million mt per year shore-based steel mill in the southern Indian port town of Vishakhapatnam.
