Qian’an Steel becomes main supplier of electrical steel to WEG Nantong

Hebei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Qian'an Iron and Steel Co. (Qiangang), a subsidiary of Beijing-based Chinese steelmaker Shougang Co., has become the main supplier of electrical steel to Jiangsu Province-based WEG Nantong Co., which is a subsidiary of Brazil-based electric motor manufacturer WEG Co., as announced by Shougang Co. on May 10.

In 2012, Qian'an Steel's supplies of electrical steel, including 50SW1300, 50SW800 and 50SW470 series, to WEG Nantong amounted to 4,000 mt, constituting 45 percent of WEG Nantong Co.'s total requirements during the year. Since the start of the current year, Qian'an Steel's monthly supply volume of electrical steel to WEG Nantong has been stable at around 500 mt per month, constituting 60 percent of WEG Nantong's needs.
