China's Shanxi Province will implement production halts for coking enterprises with significant pollution discharges after launching a campaign to improve environmental protection in the coking industry as of the current month, as announced by the Department of Environmental Protection of Shanxi Province.

The campaign will check data monitored since the beginning of this year. If average daily discharge data exceed permitted standards for more than one fifth of a quarter and if enterprises have failed to complete rectification work with time limits, the Department of Environmental Protection will implement production halts for the coking enterprises in question.
