POSCO ups steel supply to meet Japanese customers’ post-quake needs

Pohang Iron and Steel Co. (POSCO), the largest steelmaker in South Korea, stated on March 24 that it is increasing its steel product sales target for the current year by one million mt to over 35 million mt while also increasing output, so as to meet the requirements of Japanese customers after the March 11 earthquake.
 
Hwang Eun-Yeon, executive vice president of POSCO, said "We are increasing output to meet Japanese customers' needs, but we cannot satisfy everybody."
 
He added that, following the earthquake, POSCO estimates that its total steel orders from Japanese customers in the current year will reach at least 1.5 million mt.
