The Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection has permitted the sale of up to 80 percent in Stocznia Gdansk SA shipyard to ISD Polska - a subsidiary of Ukraine-based steel trading and holding company Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD).

Given the fact that Stocznia Gdansk SA shipyard is one of the main producers of ships in the region, while ISD Polska is one of the main shipbuilding plate producers, the acquisition of the former by the latter is seen as a very strategic move which will allow the Ukrainian company not only to ensure stable consumption of its products in Europe but also to enter the shipbuilding industry.
