Peruvian iron ore output up 9.1 percent in January-May

Iron ore production at Peru’s only producer, Shougang Hierro Peru, was up by 15.9 percent year on year in May this year, according to data issued by the country’s mines and energy ministry.

Shougang produced 816,711 mt of the commodity in May, up from 704,674 mt in the same month of 2016.

In the January-May period of this year, Peruvian iron ore output totaled 3.77 million mt, increasing by 9.1 percent year on year.
