The Chilean Central Bank announced that the performance of the country’s economy increased by 0.1 percent in June 2024 from June 2023, as measured by the IMACEC index.
The production of goods increased by 2.2 percent, positively affected by mining activities and other goods, while the industrial production declined.
When comparing June and May, the production of goods increased by 1.3 percent while mining activities increased by 1.7 percent.
Trading activities increased by 4.3 percent on annual terms reflecting chiefly higher sales of domestic appliances, machinery, and equipment. From May to June, trading activities increased by 3.4 percent.
Meanwhile, the services account declined by 1.8 percent on annual terms reflecting low performance of personal services.
From May to June, services declined by 0.9 percent, affected by both personal and company services.
The monthly index of economic activity (IMACEC) is considered as a proxy of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) evolution.
