Pakistan's iron and steel imports up 54.9 percent in December

Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports amounted to 231,515 mt in December 2014, increasing 31.5 percent compared to November and up 51.6 percent year on year, according to the data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS). The value of these imports in December was $91.8 million, rising by 20.7 percent month on month and up 63.5 year on year.
 
Meanwhile, Pakistan's iron and steel imports in December amounted to 213,745 mt, rising 54.9 percent on year-on-year basis and up 13.5 percent compared to the previous month. In the month in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel imports was $159 million, increasing by 58.8 percent year on year and up 8.8 percent month on month.
