Overproduction cause of 48% tube import tariff in Algeria

Algeria has hit tube imports with a 48% tariff since they do not conform to local standards in the Algerian market and since local production is excessive. Sources report the increase is provisional with no time frame apparent. They also indicate that the 48% will be added on to current duty of 15%. Some in the industry feel the new tariff will create major delays for pipe projects since local mills are having problems meeting current demand.
