In the January-March period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output of the 53 major shipbuilding enterprises in China amounted to 8.26 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 38.2 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI). In the given period, new ship orders of the 53 major shipbuilding enterprises amounted to 15.18 million dwt, increasing by 243 percent year on year. As of the end of March, ship orders on the books of the shipbuilding enterprises in question totaled 90.56 million dwt, up 9.6 percent year on year.
In the January-March period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders of the 53 major shipbuilding enterprises in China totaled 7.6 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 40.8 percent year on year. Meanwhile, new ship export orders of the shipbuilding enterprises in the period in question amounted to 14.12 million dwt, increasing by 285 percent year on year. As of the end of March, ship export orders on the books of the 53 major shipbuilding enterprises totaled 82.41 million dwt, up 8.4 percent year on year.
