Output of 53 major shipbuilding firms in China down 11.3 percent in Jan-Oct

In the January-October period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output of the 53 major shipbuilding enterprises in China amounted to 291.9 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 11.3 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI). In the given period, new ship orders of the 53 major shipbuilding enterprises amounted to 26.97 million dwt, increasing by 30.4 percent year on year. As of the end of October, ship orders on the books of the shipbuilding enterprises in question totaled 81.42 million dwt, up 4.5 percent year on year.


In the January-October period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders of the 53 major shipbuilding enterprises in China totaled 26.74 million dwt, down 13.1 percent year on year. Meanwhile, new ship export orders of the shipbuilding enterprises in the period in question amounted to 23.73 million dwt, increasing by 26.1 percent year on year. As of the end of October, ship export orders on the books of the 53 major shipbuilding enterprises totaled 72.38 million dwt, down 0.1 percent year on year.
