Output of 53 major shipbuilding firms in China down 1.1% in Jan-Feb

In the January-February period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output of the 53 major shipbuilding enterprises in China amounted to 6.16 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 1.1 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI). In the given period, new ship orders of the 53 major shipbuilding enterprises amounted to 2.15 million dwt, decreasing by 82.3 percent year on year. As of the end of February, ship orders on the books of the shipbuilding enterprises in question totaled 83.64 million dwt, down 7.2 percent year on year.

In the January-February period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders of the 53 major shipbuilding enterprises in China totaled 5.85 million dwt, down 0.3 percent year on year. Meanwhile, new ship export orders of the shipbuilding enterprises in the period in question amounted to 1.87 million dwt, decreasing by 82.7 percent year on year. As of the end of February, ship export orders on the books of the 53 major shipbuilding enterprises totaled 75.69 million dwt, down 7.9 percent year on year.
