Outokumpu Technology signs contract with LKAB

According to the statement released by Finnish steel producer Outokumpu Stainless, its unit Outokumpu Technology has signed a contract with Swedish iron ore mining company LKAB to design and deliver a new pelletizing plant for LKAB's Malmberget project in Northern Sweden. The contract is worth €60 million. The plant will be designed to produce 2.5 million tons of iron pellets per annum in the first phase. However, the capacity will be increased later on. The commissioning of the plant is scheduled for December 2006. The plant will be based on Lurgi Travelling Grate technology.
