The Russian steel and pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has announced that in January-May this year its Novgorod-based pipe producer Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa) increased its pipe output by 35.4 percent year on year to 821,151 mt, with its large diameter pipe production amounting to 532,295 mt - up 38.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
In May this year, Vyksa produced 165,043 mt of pipes - up 42.9 percent year on year, with its large diameter pipe production amounting to 107,408 mt - up 60.9 percent year on year.
According to Vyksa executive director Vladimir Kochetkov, the plant's output increase is due to deliveries for the construction of the second line of the Nord Stream international gas pipeline and of Bovanenkovo-Ukhta and Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas pipelines. In addition, Vyksa also supplied pipes for the construction of the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean-2 oil pipeline.
